About Anja van den Berg

Anja van den Berg was born in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, in 1975. In 1992 Anja moved to Groningen, where she studied at the Academie Minerva and University of Groningen.

In 2009 Anja opened her own gallery in the south of The Netherlands. In the same period Anja exposed her paintings in the Gallery Solvsten Longyearbyen, the northernmost gallery in the world! The collection consisted of realistic paintings (acryl on canvas), inspired by the beautifull nature of Svalbard. Except in her own gallery and in Solvsten, Anja started to sell in the Airshipmuseum Spitsbergen.

After 2009 Anja started abstract-based painting in different techniques of action painting. With this technique, Anja was able to achieve a more immediate mean of creating art; the paint now literally flowing from her chosen tool onto the canvas or paper! But, still she continued the realistic paintings, although in a different way, what resulted in several exhibitions and new selling points, such as the Svalbard museum and Fargeklatten Veita Andenes (and many more!).
